OIL BREATHER KIT | RACINGLINE OIL CATCH CAN FOR 2.0 TSI EA888.4 MQB EVO How does it work?

Not all catch tank systems are equal. The RacingLine Oil Catch Can protects the intercooler and the intake system of the EA888 Gen.4 2.0 TSI engine against oil accumulation, maintaining clean airflow through the intake manifold.

Installing the system reduces long-term carbon buildup in the intake and prevents oil and water vapour from entering the intake tract.

Its refined design maintains correct crankcase ventilation during road, track and race use.

The system uses a high-capacity, 3-chamber catch can with foam and baffle filtration to capture excess moisture and oil vapour effectively.

The tank has an integrated dipstick for easy fluid-level checks between service intervals.

Direct PCV system replacement:

Note: this product is not intended for US-specification vehicles fitted with an additional pressure sensor in the PCV system.

Note: on US-specification EA888.4 vehicles only, installation will trigger an error message because the PCV pressure sensor used on these versions is removed. An appropriate ECU software modification is required to clear the message.

The Golf 8 R and some MQB Evo models use a different washer-fluid reservoir from other versions. The factory reservoir is located on the left-hand side of the engine bay when viewed from the front—exactly where the new Catch Can is installed. The Remote Washer Refill Kit is therefore required.

Oil Catch Can features:

The Catch Can itself is a genuine piece of engineering. It is CNC-machined from solid 6061-T6 aluminium and then anodised in an elegant gloss black finish, ensuring that the RacingLine tank remains durable and looks great in the engine bay for years.

The integrated dipstick makes fluid-level checks easy.

A drain plug at the bottom of the tank allows excess fluid to be emptied easily, or the optional Remote Drain Kit can be fitted for even more convenient servicing.

Inside, a 3-chamber separation system with foam and filter baffles effectively captures excess moisture and oil vapour.

The tank mounts at the engine mount using a factory body bolt, preserving a clean, OEM-style appearance.

Does it fit my car?

On US-specification EA888.4 vehicles only, installation may display an error message because the PCV pressure sensor (06H 906 052 B/D) used on these versions is removed.

How do I check compatibility? Verify whether the PCV system has the pressure sensor shown. If the vehicle has this sensor, a warning message will appear after installation.

The RacingLine Catch Can will still operate correctly, but an appropriate ECU software modification will be required to remove the message.
