The Eventuri intake system for the Yaris GR was developed based on extensive research, including analysis of air temperature and flow rate data, as well as dynamometer testing. Since the vehicle has a turbocharged engine, heat and capacity issues were at the center of attention when creating the intake. The goal was to obtain the best possible flow while maintaining the lowest possible intake air temperatures. Each component is designed to provide a smooth and unobstructed airflow path to the turbine. The closed design ensures lower temperatures than the factory equivalent, while increasing internal capacity to reduce pressure drops and pumping losses. This way the turbine runs more efficiently and reaches peak boost levels earlier, resulting in a clean performance gain.
The outer diameter of the filter is 210mm (8.3") and the filtering surface is 130,000 mm2. The patented Venturi housing ensures maximum internal capacity for the Yaris GR model and the laminar (layered) nature of the air stream flowing to the turbine inlet.
Dyno tests The Eventuri intake for the Yaris GR model has been tested by many renowned tuners around the world. They all achieved similar results. The first chart comes from RaceCal from the UK. Several tests were performed with the stock intake to obtain repeatable results, then an Eventuri intake was installed and a series of tests were also performed. Everything was done on the same day in sequence with the hood closed. The results show an increase in power and torque across the entire range - not just at the highest values - so the car responds better and accelerates faster in all gears. The ambient temperature was 11.9 degrees Celsius for tests with the factory intake, and 15.6 degrees Celsius during tests with the Eventuri intake - the temperature increase resulted from the dyno heating up after tests with the stock configuration.
Summary of dyno results: The second set of results was sent by Master Tuning Asia from Hong Kong, which conducted tests in both configurations at a slightly higher ambient temperature - 32 degrees Celsius. The kits were tested 3 times each and all 3 graphs show gains across the entire RPM range, with the third graph showing the highest gains because the stock intake was struggling with too high intake air temperatures.
Eventuri advantage The Eventuri kit for the Yaris GR model has a patented carbon housing that guarantees an aerodynamically effective airflow path from the filter to the turbine. This is not just another cone filter with a cover, but a unique design that uses the Venturi effect and maintains a layered airflow to reduce the load on the turbine.
The Eventuri intake system for the Yaris GR model consists of several elements that fulfill precisely defined functions and are manufactured in accordance with the highest quality standards. Only prepreg carbon fiber is used without any glass fiber, which means a much smoother internal surface, guaranteeing free flow. Below you will find descriptions of individual components and an explanation of their operation.
Each intake system consists of the following components: • patented Venturi carbon casing with integrated MAF section • specially developed high-flow dry cone filter • carbon intake duct • rear tube made according to factory specifications • specially developed mounting elements • laser cut stainless steel handles • specially developed EPDM hose • milled MAF input and handle mounting
FILTER HOUSING The kit consists of a specially developed second generation filter, an aluminum inlet flange, stainless steel handles and an integrated MAF section. The housing shell houses a reverse-mount filter and smoothly shapes the airflow to the MAF section, which connects to the rear intake pipe. This solution changes the flow path in the factory equivalent, where the air enters the front of the housing, changes direction by 90 degrees to pass through the panel filter, and turns 90 degrees again to reach the MAF section. The Eventuri kit provides a much simpler path - air enters from the front of the filter housing and moves to the MAF section without any sudden changes in direction. This allows the air flow to pass straight from the filter to the inlet pipe without unnecessary disruptions.
SPECIALLY DEVELOPED FILTER To obtain the maximum air flow rate, Eventuri engineers used their largest filter (diameter 210 mm / 8.3"), which, when tested with a 4-inch opening, is able to provide a flow of 444 l/s at 1.01 psi. The filter element is a dry type and is ISO certified, guaranteeing a level of filtration compliant with the OEM standard. The design is based on a characteristic cone shape, supporting the Venturi effect, which is generated by casing.
PATENTED TECHNOLOGY The patented Eventuri filter housing has a gently decreasing diameter between the filter and the turbine inlet. This geometry induces the Venturi effect, which involves accelerating the flow while maintaining the layered nature of the air stream. The housing design resembles a trumpet-shaped intake pipe (velocity stack). Specially developed filters support the air flow passing through the housing and enable uniform velocity at the outlet.
CARBON INTAKE DUCT The outside air flow enters through the grill on the front bumper and is directed to the filter through the carbon intake duct. The maximum possible capacity was retained up to the front of the engine compartment and the front part of the duct was unblocked by using an opening just behind the bumper where the hood closes. When the vehicle is in motion, this area of the engine bay keeps the ambient temperature outside, so the intake can draw in additional air rather than being confined to the small opening behind the grill. The duct was not led to the other side of the engine compartment, where there is another opening behind the grill, because this would require a sharp change in the airflow angle, and due to the limited space available between the engine and the hood latch. Moreover, the use of a second opening would prevent cool outside air from entering the engine compartment, which helps cool the space. An additional advantage is the fact that the channel tightly connects to the filter housing thanks to an expandable rubber gasket, which allows the housing to move with the engine without letting hot air through.
REAR PIPE AND EPDM CONNECTOR At the end of the kit there is a rear intake pipe and an EPDM connector. The factory pipe has a sharp internal bend, which at high flow can cause turbulence with a potentially negative impact on turbine performance. Eventuri engineers have created a new rear pipe with a much gentler bend, which, in addition to eliminating a too sharp flow angle, also allows for a more favorable positioning of the filter housing. The problem with high temperature in the rear of the engine was solved by using thermoplastic material reinforced with fiberglass. There is also a milled reinforcement ring at the rear connector where the clamp is mounted. This solution prevents deformation when the clamp is tightened strongly - which is the case with the factory pipe. There is an EPDM connector between the pipe and the filter housing, which reduces the impact of vibrations and engine movements.
